The Most Powerful ‘Get Summer Ready’ Advice I Know – A Guide To Prep For The Summer Season

Get Summer Ready

As the days start growing longer and the temperature rises, it’s time to start thinking about how we’re going to shed those layers and begin embracing the warmth of summer. But before you get ready to hit the beach or rock that summer dress, it’s essential to prepare your body and mind for the season ahead. Here’s my guide on how to plan for summer…

Create a Balanced Workout Routine
Finding a workout routine that I enjoy has been key for me. It keeps me coming back for more and makes staying active feel like less of a chore. I’m a firm believer in a holistic approach to fitness. Incorporating a mix of cardiovascular exercises, strength training, flexibility work and functional movements into your routine to achieve maximum results, but make sure it’s something you enjoy.

Fuel Your Body with Nutritious Foods
As the saying goes “Summer bodies are made in the kitchen”. Focus on fueling your body with nutrient-rich foods such as lean proteins, whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and limit your intake of processed foods and sugary drinks. Making healthier choices will help you reach your goals faster.

Get Plenty of Rest
I used to underestimate the importance of rest, but now I realize just how crucial it is for my overall well-being. Getting enough sleep and taking rest days when needed allows my body to recover and perform at its best. Rest and recovery are essential components of any fitness regimen. Making sure to prioritize sleep and aim for 7-9 hours of quality rest each night. Listen to your body and give yourself permission to take rest days when needed. Recovery techniques such as foam rolling, stretching and massages can also help alleviate muscle soreness and prevent injuries.

Stay Consistent
Consistency has been my secret weapon. Even on the days when I don’t feel like working out, I remind myself of my goals and how far I’ve come. It’s all about showing up, even when it’s tough – these are often the best workouts you’ll achieve. Make exercise a regular part of your routine by scheduling workouts into your calendar and treating them as non-negotiable appointments. Remember that progress takes time, so stay patient and trust the process.

Mix in Outdoor Activities
There’s something about being outdoors that just rejuvenates me. Whether it’s going for a run in the park or hitting the trails for a hike, getting outside and moving my body always leaves me feeling refreshed and energized. Take advantage of the beautiful weather by incorporating outdoor activities into your fitness routine. Go for that bike ride, or swim at the beach to add variety to your workouts and soak up some vitamin D. Outdoor workouts not only provide a change of scenery but also challenge your body in new ways.

Practice Mindfulness
Summer is not just about physical fitness but also about taking care of your mental well-being. Taking time to practice mindfulness has been a game-changer for me, both in and out of the gym. Spending a few moments each day to quiet my mind and focus on the present moment helps me stay grounded and appreciative of the journey I’m on.
